    1. OKAY. I CAN'T STAND IT. I LOVE THIS SERIES A CATASTROPHIC AMOUNT. I started thinking, "Yes, I'll be mild fan of this." But pfft, I think I've crossed over to let-me-be-an-obsessive-fan-who-has-a-million-ships-and-cries-a-lot-and-screams-at-the-epic-plot-twists-and-sometimes-howls-because-the-character-development-it-a-thing-of-beauty. The fandom life is nothing if it doesn't consume you, right?Consider me 100% consumed.I thought Mortal Coil was mind-blowingly incredible but Death Bringer shoves [...]

    2. So I bought this book on September 3rd when I went to Derek Landy's book signing. I had a brilliant time talking to him; he is such a nice person. So when I came home eager to start this book, I was definitely not disappointed. Melancholia St Clair, an average Necromancer, who has been announced as The Death Bringer, brings shock to the Necromancers, especially Solomon Wreath as he had thought that Valkyrie Cain was the one. The Death Bringer would've been the person to join life and death toget [...]

    3. Oh my God. I just finished this book and it is one of the best in the series, right next to Dark Days.I finished it in 5 days, I could not put it down! Valkyrie has grown up so much. And we discover some SERIOUS stuff about Skulduggery's past! Both of them are ambidextrous mages (so far, at least) and both of them are/were potential Death Bringers. Both of them have a dark alter ego, they even tried to kill each other! But they're best friends, and neither of them can bear to see the other die.S [...]

    4. 2.5 stars.Val, Val, Val. I liked you. What happened? Hanging out with Caelan, cheating on Fletcher, dumping Fletcher, dumping Caelan(ornd of) and then coming back around to Fletcher, relying on his awesomeness and love for you to save your sorry bitchy self, along with a multitude of head-banging stupid decisions and treating everyone horribly. I desperately wanted Tanith to show up and slap her. Or Skulduggery to tell her off. Or Fletcher to realize that's he much too good for her.Or something, [...]

    5. Another excellent addition to the series. This one is a bit of a turning point, propelling the series to a bit of a darker place. The character development blows me away! First read 2013Second read July 2014

    6. This is where things get so intense and twisty. Characters' backgrounds are revealed and the world is coming to an end AGAIN. So good!

    7. Skulduggery 6 represents a return to form for Landy, mainly because he shakes things up quite a bit; Tanith and Sanguine are no-shows, other characters are bogged down in bureaucracy and there are quite a number of surprising revelations. At the end of the previous volume I thought I had worked out quite a bit of what was going to happen next; none of it played out the way I expected, though some of it still mighte the Reflection subplot still hasn't paid offwhich is getting a little irritatingI [...]

    9. I have spent some time agonising over how to write this review without giving away any spoilers, and the only thing I can think of is to make it shorter than most of my reviews. There is just so much happening in this book that it is nigh impossible to say much at all about the story without giving something away that may spoil the book for the few die-hard fans out there who have not yet read it. I will do my utmost however, although if you have not yet read Mortal Coil, the fifth book in the s [...]

    10. I borrowed the first Skulduggery book a few years back, when i was on my fishing trip to Ireland. (My family have this house in Donegal, which has been passed down the family). When i started reading it of course, i realised that it was actually SET in Ireland, how friggin' awesome. So there i was in Ireland, reading Skulduggery Pleasant, as you do. And i thought it was pretty snazzy. Then i read "playing with fire". Meh."Faceless ones" Kinda good."Dark Days" amazing."Mortal Coil" Wow.And then i s [...]

    11. A decent edition to the series, even darker and more dangers than before, but not one of my faves. Was disappointed that not much about the situation with Tanith was really dealt with. While I enjoyed the book well enough overall, there were a few issues. For one, the pacing was off and definitely dragged in places - and some of the fight scenes, especially the last one ye gods. The snark and humor is still good when Valkyrie and Skulduggery are bantering, but seemed sadly lacking any other time. [...]

    12. I forgot how intense those last 70 or so pages were. Like holy heck, I cringed so much and nearly had to stop reading. IT WAS GREAT!I honestly think that the best thing about this series is that there are practically never any low points. Like sure, some (*most*) characters have their lows, but the series itself never has a dull moment. It just goes. And goes and goes and goes. Do ya get me? This series will be the absolute death of me, but it'll be a good death.

    13. On the September 1st, at the end of school, I had Mum take me straight to the bookstore, to buy a copy. I had been waiting for Deathbringer for so long, and when I finally found it, I was ecstatic. I stayed up into the early hours of the morning finishing it, and all I can say is Wow.So in the beginning of the book, I actually found myself getting extremely annoyed with Valkyrie. She was running off the rails, she didn't have Tanith or Ghastly to rein her in. She was completely oblivious to what [...]

    14. I feel exactly the same way about this 6th instalment than I have about the last 3. I could almost write the exact same review as I did for Mortal coil (/book/show/81) because nothing has changed. I still love these books. They are definitely flawed and seem to be a bit slack on proof reading of late but they are just so entertaining. Like the last book, Landy's sarcastic humour that he originally planted in Skulduggery's character has seeped through to almost all the characters. It starts to an [...]

    16. Secreeettttssss, so many secrets! I really teared up at times during this book. We're finally told what Skulduggery did, we finally see the terrible toll Darquesse is taking on Valkyrie, we finally see and understand a (view spoiler)[lot (hide spoiler)] of the characters' pasts and understand them better. And Fletcher and Valkyrie?! DARN IT, Valkyrie, don't mess with the poor boy's feelings! And the part that made me tear up really badly? Thiiiissss:"No,"said Valkyrie. "What do we do now? We're p [...]

    17. OMW LIKE THIS WAS AMAZING I WAS IN Tears with what happened to Val and Fletc okay i am not gonna ruin the suspense for the future readers i am just gonna say its highly recommendable and its amazing one of its kind welll xcept the series itself ofcourse >>okay thats it cuz i mite blabber out the whole series

    18. THEMES. METAPHORS. TOTALLY LEGIT RESPONSES TO ADVANCES FROM CREEPY VAMPIRES. DRAMA. BADASSERY. And a bit of sass. Also a really gross scene involving an eyeball.

    19. Aaaaah, Derek, Derek, Derek. Where do I start You hate Twilight. We get it. But was that really necessary? I believe not. This book would otherwise deserve full 5 stars but the Calean thing was just way too obvious for my taste. And it’s not that I like Twilight (whichI kind of do, but that’s beside the point), it’s just the way it’s all turned around. While Derek Landy is usually great at satire and parody, this was a thinly veiled attempt (I’m not even sure there was one), which is w [...]

    20. This was nearly the best book so far, following up on the same expanded interesting themes and threats and characters that mortal coil gave us. However the 50-100 pages spent wondering through the caves (never a good location in these books) with one long running fight and chase which was of very little consequence really let the side down. However, I love Kenny as a new edition and think many of the side characters such as Fletcher, Wreath and even Clarabelle have really had a chance to come in [...]

    21. Wow. These books. That one did strike me as being a bit slower in the early part. Of course, I would read Skulduggery/Valkyrie banter for literal chapters and not care if absolutely nothing happened, but there's also everyone else's POV, too I think it also didn't help that I knew a couple of the big things before they happened. I wish I had the experience of discovering those things again for the first time! However, the book really picked up in the later section, and I am gutted that I have t [...]

    22. Another enjoyable read. There was some great action in this book 6 and some big things happening. There was some teenage romance that I could have done without, but this is geared for teenagers so I will look past that on my rating. Flew through this book for how long it is. For being book 6 in this series it still held my interest and had me excited to read it.

    23. The final fight just.wow!I will write some coherent thoughts on this when I get past my current state of pure love and amazement. As for now, still out of reach.

    24. Awesome dialogues and tension and plot twists. The fighting scenes are exaggerated sometimes, so that they are hard to imagine.
