    1. Decent enough mystery, but I wanted to see a little more emotionWarning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS. Rating: 6/10PROS: - Once I got about 10% of the way into the story, I had a hard time putting it down. It’s not the MOST riveting book I’ve ever read, but something about it kept me coming back, and it was a fairly easy read once I got into it.- It’s a pretty good story. Lots of little details for the reader to try to piece together, authentic-sounding poli [...]

    2. A serial killer is killing young male hustlers and disposing their bodies in New York City, riverside locations. Lieutenant Denny Delaney, finds himself spinning his wheels in an area he has no real desire to uncover, gay men. However, the Lieutenant is the celebrated detective who brought down a dreaded terrorist, Felix the Cat. This leads him to believe and others to resent that he has another opportunity to show his skills as the head of the NYPD Special Ops Squad. He begins his investigation [...]

    3. John F. Rooney's Exceptional Gift for StorytellingJohn F. Rooney is fast becoming one of the best crime/thriller novelists before the public. He is a master at creating characters so pulsatile they nearly jump off the page and stay in memory long after the novel is completed. He has created a series of novels that deal with a celebrated detective Lt. Denny Delaney and this current book UNPROTECTED LOVE puts him in the spotlight again - on the trail of a serial killer. Another topic Rooney has no [...]

    4. Unprotected Love – Murder on the docks of ManhattanRating: 4 of 5 starsAuthor: John F. A close examination of the body finds something usual hidden in his mouth – a condom. Unfortunately, this is not the first victim to be found this way. All are male hustlers and all have the same condom calling card. A serial killer has been born. NYPD special ops [...]

    5. Serial killers continue to fascinate readers in the way an animal predator in a nature documentary devours our attention and repels us. In John F. Rooney’s crime novel “Unprotected Love” a group of young male prostitutes have fallen victim to a killer who stuffs a condom in their mouths and places their bodies at riverfront spots. Denny Delaney, the NYPD detective who made a name for himself as the pursuer of the terrorist Felix the Cat in “Nine Lives Too Many” and “Clawed Back from [...]

    6. In the third book of the series Lieutenant Denny Delaney, intrepid NYPD detective and twice catcher/killer of terrorist Felix the Cat, is assigned to what looks to be the case of a serial murderer, taking out young street hustlers and leaving the bodies always in the same fashion by the waterfront and with the addition of the killer's trademark. In the process he has to deal with other police units and the FBI, and not always with full cooperation. Added to his problems are the jibes from press [...]

    7. 3.5 stars - The mystery drives the novel (for me); as the number of victims grow, the need to know who and why drive the reader forward, yet at times the backstory and local history seemed to slow the suspense for me. This is the first novel I've read by John F Rooney and I look forward to reading more
