    2. Won this book on the giveaway and have truly enjoyed reading it. It is written in a very easy, matter of fact kind of way, and easy to follow. Parts of it are funny, parts are depressing, but it feels very true and wholeheartedly written. I would recommend it.

    3. I grew up not far from the address of Dales trials and her problems at about the same time. Codman Square, Dorchester and Mattapan, and am sure we may even have crossed paths or ridden the same trolleys. The first half of the book depicted the horrors of her childhood and was riveting. The second half was rudderless as her life must have been, lots and lots of players and remaining issues with Ma that she somehow allowed to continue even in her own home. She enabled her mothers continued abuses a [...]

    4. Captivating story of survival in a very dysfuntional home during the author's childhood and young adult life. Dale's ability to share her story without being cynical or critical holds the reader's attention. Hard to believe she came out such a strong, focused and successful woman. I rooted for her the whole way through the book. Very quick read.

    5. Simple writing. A quick read. But an interesting story of three generations of family and how they avoided poverty.

    6. Very interestingTook place in childhood neighborhood. Interesting to find out what we didn't know what was happening right in the neighborhood

    7. This book was fabulous! I could not put it down. I just cannot imagine this life. What an amazing true story. A must read.
