    1. Back in 2005, when I bought my first beehive (complete with a ferocious colony of honeybees), it wasn't long before I felt like giving up. I'm allergic to beestings and not fond of honey. but Ted Hooper's 'Guide to Bees and Honey' got be right back on track. This book is not only packed full of information on and experience of beekeeping, but is also very easy to read and, dare I say it, actually exciting! You feel the author's passion for bees and it is this more than anything else that kept me [...]

    2. This book is a very informative introduction for those who are interested in the art and science of beekeeping. Ted Hooper supplies an engaging narration, describing everything from readying honey for purchase, to diseases that affect the hive, to the mechanisms of the individual honey bee. The reader can feel secure in Ted Hooper's vast knowledge, which is the knowledge of experience, not of a text book. He describes not only the most common methodology, but also provides insight into his littl [...]

    3. A very fascinating hand book, which you can read from cover to cover on a plane (which is what I did)Nature is really great, and how the bees do it is fun reading. Despite what the title says, and suggests a boring "hand book" I give it 5 stars ! It is exciting !

    4. Good information for both beginning and experienced beekeepers, very readable. Dry, humorous observations. "Regarding relocating your hive: either less than 3 feet or more than 3 miles." I wish I had read this before I moved my hive last summer!

    5. I have no desire to be an apiarist, but it was interesting to read about the life and habit of the honey bee.
