    1. This was an amazing read and far better than I thought given that Ms. Budo is not a professional writer but wanted to record what happened at Baptist Hospital during Hurricane Katrina. What makes her book worth reading is she creates a chronological montage from different people working/staying at the hospital for almost a week before they could leave. Therefore, she is one 'character' among many who provide fascinating details about their trials after the levee breaks in New Orleans. The horror [...]

    2. This is an excellent first hand account of some of the nurses' experiences at Baptist (aka Memorial) during and after Hurricane Katrina. There are wonderful photographs and diagrams which help the reader picture the layout of the hospital and the challenges they faced.On page 9 (hard copy) there is a note "From the Author" which states "This book is a fictionalized account of the ICU staff and their families, based on their experiences after Hurricane Katrina".
