    1. Foundling Wizard is the first book in an epic fantasy series. It follows the journey of young Lorit as he discovers his wizard powers and begins his daring journey to reach the Master Wizards who can help him develop into his full potential.Along the way, Lorit has to avoid falling into the hands of the Priests of the Temple of Ran, save other wizards from the same fate, learn as much as possible on the go and continue to his destination, taking his charges along with him. Things become more com [...]

    2. 3.5 stars. An interesting fantasy story, with a relatively easy to follow plot. The author presents a very interesting magic and it is well described and the 2 mages powers build steadily. The characters interact well and the two main young characters have an unusual relationship which builds and changes and makes me want to see how it continues. A twist later in the book is unforeseen (or would have been had I not read a spoiler review) and a nice touch. I did like the way the older mages gave i [...]

    3. I liked some of the ideas of magic in this book, but the story line felt a bit inconsistent - for instance it seemed to be that wizards were very rare, but the main character seemed to run into them everywhere. I found some hurdles were overcome a bit too easily and sometimes the same mechanism seemed to be used a couple times and then never mentioned again. Also it seems to be more-or-less a Young Adult book, but there are some very dark moments.

    4. Foundling Wizard (Paperback) This was originally posted on I won't retell the details of the plot, a previous review does a fine job of just that. So I'm just going to give my personal opinions in general.I really loved reading this book. Every once in a while I start a book and right away know I'm going to like it. This is one of those times. The main characters are engaging. By engaging I mean you put yourself in their place with ease. I identified with Lorit. This book is pure gold when it tak [...]

    5. I just finished Foundling Wizard by James A. Eggebeen and had a great time reading it! It is the first book in the Apprentice to Master series and I am very much looking forward to reading the next books. (See below for titles and links.) Now, I am quite a fanatic when it comes to fantasy series, and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with Wizard Foundling, which creates a whimsical and magical feeling throughout and carries you effortlessly through the story.Lorit, a boy of 18, who c [...]

    6. The Foundling Wizard is a wonderful story of coming into the art of wizardry and the wizards involved in either helping Lorit or the ones who wish to steal his powers. His journey to the meet with the Mighty Ones gets side tracked when he recues other young would be wizards from the hands of the priest of Ran. One such person turns out to be a sorceress, Chihon, who pairs with Lorit and this linking enhances their powers. While this is a standalone book I can see the potential to where the author [...]

    7. I have to say i really tried to like this book series. The issues with it though are quite glaring. The author seems to have left out huge portions of the storyline. The main character is not likable in the least and i found myself caring less and less about what happened to him. It would be one thing if the main character started out as a brash young man and learned to channel that into wisdom etc. But sadly the main characters trait of rushing head first into things without thinking only gets [...]

    8. 'Foundling Wizard' is the debut novel by James Eggebeen. After reading the title I was intrigued and wanted to read it.As I read I became engrossed in the story and wanting to find out more that I just couldnt put it down. The story is of a boy called Lorit and how he discovers his powers and has to leave his home to go on a journey of discovery.I wont give away the plot but there are lots of twists in it and you feel like you are taking part in the journey with all its ups and downs. It is definit [...]

    9. I received this book free from Firstread. This story is very intriguing I thought the story was articulate enough you could visualize the various scenes. Having said that, I think some (not all) of the adventures fell a little bit flat considering how the story as a whole was written. Well worth the read though (I did not want to put it down) and am looking forward to more tales from this author. :)

    10. Problems with writing quality, but with an interesting plot and characters. There were lots of incorrectly used words, that distracted from the story. I had to keep correcting them in my head as I read. The main character repeatedly made stupid mistakes, mostly due to trusting people too easily. The story was interesting enough that I've decided to read the next in the series.

    11. I won this book from a Gooreads Giveaway. Was sad to see Harry Potter endwhat was J.K. Rowling thinking? Obviously she knew she would have to compete with James A. Eggebeen. Not sad anymore, I loved Foundling Wizard. I really love books that can take you out of your hectic, stressful life. I was taken away. Look out Harry and Hermonie, Lorit & Chihon are here!! Can't wait for the next book!!

    12. Not the best written book I've read of late. The storyline is straight forward and easy to follow. The characters are identifiable. The writing gets choppy at times and the author command of language is an issue.
