    1. Great overview of musical theory presented in the usual highly readable MI style. De-mystifies a lot of the "advanced" concepts that I've brushed up against here and there without really understanding: things like tritone substitution, secondary dominants, altered chords -- it all makes more sense now. One thing I really like about this book is that it can be read easily in a cursory "overview" fashion -- as I have just done -- or in more depth by working through the exercises -- as I intend to [...]

    2. Most of this was review for me, but this is a very well-organized book. I would use this as a reference if I gave lessons on harmony and theory. It keeps things simple and does not drag in a bunch of baggage regarding the history of music.

    3. good book I got from the library. pity I didn't have time to finish it. Will buy if there's a sale or something.
