    1. "Something wet inside you formed/and a flux of Germanic war from your vestibule/exposed itself as soft choirs. This is how the world ends."This is also how 'Haunted Fucking' begins. The poems are titled individually as Spasms, numbered 1 through 30. Philip LoPresti is a student of the Beats (Kerouac, Burroughs, Ginsberg) and it shows, especially the latter in this poetry collection. Ginsberg was of the belief that putting two words that were entirely out of place beside each other, or grouped to [...]

    2. Philip LoPresti has slathered in eloquence our three favorite things here at Brutal Books- sex, death, and violence- in his book Haunted Fucking (a book in spasms.)Haunted Fucking is one of the most original works I have ever read. Not because of the subject matter, but for the form and jaw-dropping, utterly insane metaphors within. Now, Philip LoPresti’s work here is not a story in the traditional sense, but a collection of poetry suited perfectly for those sensuous creatures with a craving fo [...]

    3. I had to read each spasm at least twice before "getting it" and I still think I haven't fully understood. They are quite abstract which means you can find several different messages in each poem, depending on who you are and your current mindset. I don't know if that made sense, but in my mind it did, so there. Spams Five, Twelve and -above all- Twenty-Three hit close to home but I will have to read them all again to find further meaning in these words. All in all, a really disturbingly beautifu [...]

    4. I have to be honest and tell you that I usually don't read poetry. I have only read two books of poetry and LoPresti's book is one of them. If I could find more books like this I would be a huge fan of poetry. Here's what I can tell you about this book. There truly is no god here and it's quite a dark collection but at the same time once I started reading I couldn't stop. Ever wonder what a writer is thinking while he's creating his book? What dark thoughts lurk inside their head? I don't think [...]

    5. I really like what LoPresti is doing in this book. While I am certainly no expert when it comes to poetry, this was mysterious and eerie enough to stand out. There are a few recurring themes: pianos, ghosts, violence, blood, tissue, etc. However the words used within the spasms are often random and unrelated, leaving many of them somewhat open to interpretation. This really only made me appreciate what I was reading more. To sum it up, I could say the author is like a drug-riddled prophet of sex [...]

    6. Going to admit, I'm not a poet, but this collection of pieces by Philip LoPresti is nothing short of an assault. This book really works best when you read it aloud through clenched teeth while your voice is tempered by an RP-1 on heavy distortion.

    7. Spasms of rage, anger. Heart felt at sometimes. Then a dash of sex; the smell of it, the feeling or driven deep into your brain. -know when wars dance; thunder dies on your tongue. I know these things because you can't stop the violence when a whimper becomes the only way to live. -say huffing antiseptics lets the ghost crawl free from the place inside your skull. As quoted from the poet himself. "If the birds of your fucking have taught us anything" it's too read this anger scribbled into a mad [...]

    8. Philip LoPresti's book of Spasms undeniably creates feeling in the reader. You may leave this book aside feeling disgusted, confused, turned on, or absolutely enthralled - but the intrigue remains. Its worth having around, if only for shock value when your friends come over. Or perhaps when you're alone and feeling a little twisted. A good read, highly recommended. :)

    9. The poetry here is poignant despite (or perhaps owing to) its vulgarity. The reader is transported into a visceral nightmare. Sights, sounds, smells and textures are all invoked through words that seem to have arisen through spasms of pain.

    10. Not for the faint of heart. But if you're one of those individuals who likes your poetry a little dark with a side of twisted & deranged then this is the book for you. One of those books to just open up to a poem (or spasm) when you need a quick pick me up, definitely one of my favorites.

    11. This is high level poetry right here.Philip LoPresti delves deep into his mind and climbs out with this gem of a book. This literally drove me to write poetry again, after a long period of hating it.Thanks you, Phil.

    12. I got this book for free on Kindle and I feel like I owe Lopresti something. This book is sick. Not sick in a disgusting way (although it is sick in that way too) but I mean sick in a dope verse way. I am a hip hop head at heart and I don't read a lot of poetry but when I do read poetry, I read it an emcee reciting bars. Lopresti has some killer lines and I want to share a couple of my favorites from the first few poems. ""Why is everything you fuck driven insane", "why are you whispering when t [...]

    13. "The words were writtenin ovarian dustand carved on the rectumsof eight crippled saints.Your hymen was a light bulbthat led the way into a seven year rage."Remember that feeling you had as a kid when you first discovered that there are people out there as demented as you? When you first heard that song that changed it all for you that first book that truly corrupted you? These emotions all came back to me reading "Haunted Fucking" as one spasm led me to the next.Philip LoPresti's poetry is inten [...]

    14. Wow, these Spasms were like an injection of dirty beauty. The quantity of poetry I've read in my life, can be counted on two hands, but after this book, I surely will be digging into those threnches -- save for it will be like 99% of only Philip LoPresti's poetry. I read these aloud, some of them to my wife, (who dug them as hell, too), and when LoPresti's words comes out live, one understands the true freaking feeling that LoPresti possess. My fave of them all, was this passage from Spasm Six: [...]

    15. this actually completes my 100 book reading challenge this yr! And I thought that would be The Christmas Carol. But since I just downloaded this yesterday, I was curious about it. I know it said poetry in description but I wasn't sure how much would be poetry, or if it was short stories. This is actually 30 poems(Spasms). Sex, Ghosts, violence, and a lil bizarre confusion (me reading it i mean), was what I got here. It really was fantastic and I don't read poetry. In fact I had to make a bookshe [...]

    16. This is the kind of book of poetry that will drill into your psyche hard and dry. A tome of metaphysical molestation that will question your very sexual existence! Imagine waking up from a fever dream in the middle of the act of necrophilia with your most nightmarish mate imaginable. Philip LoPresti has taken your worst pornographic nightmares and put them in overdrive. You will read these and want to shower with hydrochloric acid and go back for more! Rip out any inhibitions you may have and se [...]

    17. FULL REVIEW HEREThis is the kind of poetry that stimulates every one of the senses. In addition to the sounds of harsh noise and scenes of rot, it evokes the musty smell of sex and the coppery taste of a bloody nose.

    18. What the hell did I just read?Whew! This is the kind of poetry that you keep with you and read like a million times over. The words sort of healed me and destroyed me at the same time. I need a paperback of this.

    19. Fantastic poetry collection! Bizarre, erotic, grotesque and often beautifully written, I enjoyed it very much.
