    1. Light romantic read.Nicholas Dowling left Ireland to make his fortune, he travelled west to the New Mexico Territory and now he's nicely settled he needs a bride, since there's no available women around and he doesn't have the time or the inclination to court them anyway he lets his cousin Patrick in Ireland know exactly what he's looking for in a wife, he wants a strong sober-minded woman, who would know her place. A plain woman unafraid of hard work, a woman built for bearing sons. What he get [...]

    2. A peculiar story of a newly wedded couple, that came together through an arranged marriage. Nicholas Dowling, an extremely short tempered laborer working in a mining camp somewhere in Mexico, gets a new wife through his cousin Patrick from Ireland. On his first night, Nick discovers that his new Irish wife Brianna, is too young, illiterate, and not suitable for his manly figure, but too beautiful to be resisted. The entire story revolves around the couple trying to understand each other and plea [...]

    3. The Brides Gift - Novella a good short story. Nicholas Dowling came to New Mexico Territory from Ireland, he wanted to marry a woman from Ireland to help him with the ranch. He needed someone that was strong, hard working, he wanted sons to help him with the chores and a woman that could cook, do the washing. His cousin in Ireland was to pick out this wife and send her to America. When she arrived the women in the town had the wedding all set up and she was immediately married, they got in the w [...]

    4. There is one good thing to say about this novella, it was short, blessedly short, but amazing--in just how much stupidity it managed to cram into the Too Dumb To Live obnoxious heroine in so few pages. It might have earned a second star if Nicholas had taken the jerk back to Ireland to drop her off and give cousin Patrick that good thrashing he deserved. I reserve one star ratings for books that are torture to slog through; this one surely qualified.

    5. Sweet novella. I really liked the heroine, Brianna, Nicholas the hero was kind of a jerk at the beginning. He thought Brianna was too young and he wasn't very nice to her. Nicholas also didn't like her Irish superstitions and fought with her about them. They settled in and fell in love. I like my love scenes hotter than this novella offers, but this is a nice story.
