This is a short book, the second in a series and it feels rushed and confusing. I had a lot of who and why. Who’s Snevnana? Is she the Archivist? There are chapter-trips to the past/backstories that I can’t figure out how they fit in the story or plot.     3. I received this book for free through First Reads. I actually quite enjoyed this story. It is a well paced, interesting narrative that develops both characters and its unique storyline throughout the book. I enjoyed the use of the Archivist to dip back into history to further explore and develop the story's mythology.
