    1. “And He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers” Malachi 3:6 is the gift of The Impressionist. We all —long— to be fathered. The Impressionist draws the generations together with a grandfather, a father and a son who desperately need strength beyond their own abilities. The gift was layered and different than expected but rich and life changing. It revealed options with the choice given to make.“See yourself as I (God) see you. [...]

    2. When I was a young writer and Family Network still existed, I was taken under the wing of an experienced, successful writer whose job was to to basically rip everything I wrote to shreds. It was a tough experience but a very much needed one. The first thing Jason looked for was what he called Basement Christian stuff-automatic reject. Basement Christian Stuff, BCS as we came to identify it, is run of the mill how I got saved with a little story intertwined. BCS is meaningful to the author and ju [...]

    3. After the first three or four chapters, I felt that I was alternately reading a sermon and then a history of civil rights actions and causes. The Christian message was OK, but I expected more action and less teaching. I felt the message of the book was that a couple of miraculous interactions were needed for a person to change his ways, with which I disagree. And there was only resolution in one of the main character's relationships, leaving the other up in the air. Was this to make us want to r [...]

    4. Great book! The subtitle is Becoming the Masterpiece You Were Created To Be which is very apt! It also has great lessons for improving your marriage.Adam has just had a huge fight with his wife Paige. They have gotten weary in their marriage and this time they have actually talked about divorce. Adam leaves the house and goes to a park where an old man says he’d like to paint Adam’s portrait. As he paints, Jim Ed challenges Adam to be the man God created him to be. He also tells his own stor [...]

    5. Disappointing. Two stars is a gift. I almost quit after fifty pages. It got better, but not much.It reads like a Sunday school attempt to render a counseling transcript as a three-act play. The writing is unrealistic. The punctuation is terrible. The use of script and Italic fonts for many pages impairs readability. The references to painting watercolor indicate neither author paints nor knows much about art history.Books like this are why Christian Fiction has such a bad name. This wasn’t fict [...]

    6. This book is really amazing. It has blessed me so much and opened my eyes to see things differently.

    7. IntenseThis was so intense. Made myself do soul searching. It ended all to soon. Share God's love in your actions.

    8. Remarkable story. This is a true message of how we live our lives. The life God gave each of us. The choices we make and the path we follow. The only true path is throne God has for us. This is a story worth reading more than once. It will make you think if you are not afraid to do so.

    9. Quick read but thought provoking. Not necessarily realistic and yet there are very real elements in it such as the marriage that is falling apart, a son on drugs, etc.

    10. I give it a 4.5This book spoke to me because I can relate to the main character. This book will also speak to anyone reading it. It's entertaining and keeps you anticipating the next moment.

    13. MY REVIEWThe Impressionist is a short story about coming to terms with who God has created in each one of us. I loved the characters and the realness in which the book is written. Tim Clinton is a great author and I’ve enjoyed his books in the past so I was drawn to this one for that reason.Adam Camp storms out of the house after a major fight with his wife. While trying to deal with his anger, he encounters Jim Ed, a man who refuses to let Adam be alone. Frustrated, Adam finally concedes to t [...]

    14. Adam Camp's world is falling down around him, his son is doing drugs again, he and his wife just had a big blow out argument about the same things they always argue about, this time she is threatening to leave him. He decides he better leave the house before he says or does something he will not be able to take back.He walks around and finds himself at a park and is wondering what purpose he has to be on this earth when he meets Jim Ed, an older gent who asks Adam if he can paint his portrait, A [...]

During the time he spends with the painter, he learns some valuable truths about decisions we make and what is truly worth fighting for. 16. This is a wonderful and well written novella. One of inspiration and encouragement. One that reminds us that only God can change our lives and help us through each day. He is all we need. It is a short story but powerful and I read it in one sitting. Adam Camp's family life is crumbling around him. His wife is threatening to leave him and his son is addicted to drugs. He is unhappy and disappointed with himself. After an argument with his wife he leaves in order to try to think things through an [...]

    17. “The Impressionist” is a quick, easy read, with a deep storyline! Main character, Adam Camp, is depressed, frustrated and unhappy with his life and feels like giving up. After a huge blow-up with his wife he storms out of the house and has an unusual afternoon. He meets a stranger in the park and ends up spending a couple of life-changing hours with the elderly man, Jim Ed. The story changes between Jim Ed and Adam’s lives, marriages and jobs. As Jim Ed shares his life story with Adam, Ad [...]

    18. Adam Camp feels like he is failing at life. His marriage seems ready to implode, his teen age son has been using drugs, his job is very demanding and he doesn’t know where it all went wrong. He flees his house and runs into Jim Ed in the park. Jim Ed is an older man who feels God has called to paint. He tells Adam to sit for a portrait. During the course of the sitting, Jim Ed shares the story of his life. What it was like to grow up Black in the South. What it took for the Lord to bring him i [...]

    19. I felt the message was wonderful. Being an artist myself, I related to, and adored this book and the message it preached. It's a really quick and easy read, which is great for school or someone busy. Although it's a quick read, JT has a great lesson. Adam Camp, a father and husband, battles common insecurities that are hindering his relationship with his son, wife, and God. He attends church once in a while and doesn't do much outside of that. He works long hours, travels a lot, and his family f [...]

    20. The authors have woven spiritual transformation lessons throughout the experience of Adam getting his portrait painted. The experience is extemporaneous, painter and subject having met in a park. Adam is encouraged to share his story, his wife threatening to leave him and his son on drugs. The painter shares his story, a black man growing up in a time of severe prejudice. The painter is an impressionist, capturing the soul of Adam with its potential for good and evil. This novel is pretty good ex [...]

    21. I had the privilege of reviewing the Impressionist. It is a fun and easy read but has a deep and thought provoking story line. The main character is struggling with despair and decisions he needs to make. While searching for answers, he is approached by a painter who wants to do his portrait. The results are amazing. I like this story so much! It was a really good book and I would highly recommend it to everyone!I was given this book by the Book Club Network for my honest review which I have giv [...]

    22. The Impressionist is a novella that packs an epic full of wisdom!!!! The author uses a painter to demonstrate how some decisions we make in life have long reaching effects. He uses Bible truths to also demonstrate how to solve some of the decisions needing to be made. There is much wisdom to be learned from this little book!I received this book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

    23. I found this book last night at a Christian book store. My friend bought it and asked if I would like to read it first so I decided to start reading today. Well, I had to keep reading. The book has a very inspiring message of hope and encouragement threaded through the story of two men, one who shares his struggles and faith, the other who receives it in the midst of difficult times. Lots to ponder.

    24. Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy. This is a book that will cause you to look deep into yourself and hopefully come out a better person. It will show you that you need Christ, and there is no need looking elsewhere. It is a quick read, and a very enjoyable read. I love books written like a parable that inadvertently or purposely teach you something that you never realized.

    25. AmazingThe authors pull you into a real-life scenario where evil tries to destroy each one of us. I was sorry the story ended without a resolution, but perhaps they left an option for another novel! I definitely recommend this book to anyone struggling with relationship issues. An awesome read.

    26. I don't really have words for this book at this moment. It's *sigh* I don't know. It had so many lessons that hit right at the heart and wow. (My inner editor found so many painful grammar mistakes though >n<) But definitely worth reading! And if you have a Family Christian store near you, they're just $5. Just saying ;)

    27. Thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting Christ-focused book. I found it to be chock full of little gems, which I notated for further reflection. I believe it captures our Heavenly Father's desire for us all to seek & maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is one I will share with fragile and friends, and always have one in my library to re-read time and again.Darren Crowe

    28. God's love, Grace, and Mercy it's right hereFive stars is allowed, if I could give ten, I would. This story give us some light on who we are and who He is, no matter what it may look like, we can count on Him being near. Every man, women and adolescent should read this book. And especially believers. May God continue to bless you Tim Clinton.

    29. Back to you,One of the most relatable storylines I've read. Lost my wife over 25 years ago. When I heard the surgeon's report after surgery, I begged God for His mercy and I was lifted like I had never known. His presence, love and mercy makes it good to be " desperately dependent" on Him. You ought to try it!
