    1. This is a fun one. The subtitle is "Everything You Needed to Know About Pirate Life" and the book is filled with cool pop-ups and foldouts that tell you just that. The first spread is called "Pecking order" with the captain at the top and the lowly power monkey (not a real monkey, but a boy) at the bottom. A ghostly spread called "If you die" tells of the legends like The Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones Locker. Fun book and a must-read for all those young pirates out there!

    2. Appeal: Intermediate readersI chose this book because I felt it would really appeal to readers who do not like nonfiction. It looks and reads nothing like typical nonfiction children's books. You see a lot of fictional pirate tales, so it was neat to find a fact book about them. Lastly, the book as a lot of inserts, popups, and lift-the-flaps for those interactive readers.     3. Lots of fascinating information, and some fun pop-up/lift the flaps on each page. My only complaint is that the font is way, way too small in some places.
