    1. **** 5 Cranky Stars ****I've fallen in love with Aaron's writing style when I read Sewerville. I've been looking forward to getting my hands on this one and it didn't disappoint.Set in the 1980s, it was trip down memory lane. The pop culture references and settings gave me flashbacks.Saylor's creativity is brilliant, as is the wit. The horror chills intense and the nods to the classics (Bradbury, King et al) made me fangirl. At the center of this story are Jasper and Grady. Saylor has the abilit [...]

    2. Some of the best down to earth descriptions and metahpores I have read in years. ADVENTURES IN TERROR, even though a paranormal horror story, reminded me of A CHRISTMAS STORY that was written by Ray Bradbury. Hidden subtly beneath the gore and fear is a delightful sense of reality and a sad understanding humor. Grady Strange Claremint VII, now 100 years old and capable of time travel, tells the story of himself and Jasper Bohanon from when they first meet in elementary school in Whisper Hill, Ke [...]

    3. Remember jumping out of bed to the middle of the room so the monster under the bed couldn't reach out and grab you? Remember listening to the grownups telling tales about the bad things that happened when the night was dark? In Mr. Saylor's new book, the monsters are real, and the bad things really happened.I really enjoyed the author's previous novel about Sewardville, located in Seward County, which reminded me so much of my small home town in Kentucky. This novel is set in the same rural coun [...]

    4. Scary Kentucky Ghost StoriesGrady and Jasper are kids in the 1980s, growing up in Whisper Mill, Kentucky. The boys love horror movies, comic books, and Star Wars. They also come up against supernatural creatures. All of the stories were excellent. My favorite story was The Carnival. It took me back to the Meade County Fair. Even without the supernatural element, county fairs are scary events. Aaron Saylor adds in his special brand of horror, and escalates The Carnival to a terrifying new level.

    5. I will expand on this review soon, but nothing but great things to say. Highly recommended for everyone who grew up in the 80'sd any horror or sci-fi fan of any age!

    6. An absolute must-read book as we approach Halloween and colder weather. The author crafts a world as real as your memories -- do we trust all that we know or has imagination filled in the blanks? Complete with horror tales (mostly fiction but with enough truth to be truly terrifying), Adventures in Terror is a great start to what I hope is a long anthology.

    7. Old Fashioned Horror. This book does an excellent job of creating the world of two friends, Grady and Jasper, who are obsessed with horror. They meet in elementary school and continue their friendship as they grow up, bound by their love of all things scary and otherworldly. They experience supernatural events that tighten their bond. In addition to writing a great book, this author has a gift for description. One of my favorites is:“She was a short little hamster-faced woman, with wire eyeglas [...]

    8. Grady Strange Claremont VII is a man of great age, talks about travelling in time, and describes ghost stories, so well, one would have to believe that they are true. This is a classic book, and classy. It reminded me of all that was good with Stephen King's books, when I first started reading them. This author manages to keep a grip on the story and reader throughout, as he ploughs his way into, stories of suspense, and at time, fear.I absolutely loved the darkness of the setting, the atmospheri [...]

    9. enjoyed this book, but wondered if he and I grew up in the same kind of places. He accurately described the kind of towns I was raised in and the exact atmosphere of it all (We even had one of those old IGAs he mentions and a rail yard). In itself, that was almost scary. I liked the naming and the imagery evoked and if felt almost lovecraftian in feel--as if I was sneaking a peak into a more modern diary written by old man Watley (of Cthulu lore). I've never met the author, but I'm pretty certai [...]

    10. Received this book from a giveaway! I enjoyed this book , even though it was not what I was expecting based on the synopsis. It took me a few chapters to get into the story and in the beginning it jumped around in a confusing manner. However, after getting farther into the plot the book was much easier to follow and was very interesting.

    11. This is an absolutely fantastic book. Nostalgic, funny, and thoughtful, and will definitely take you back to your childhood, especially if you grew up in the 1980s. I loved ADVENTURES IN TERROR and I can't wait to read the follow up!
