    1. “Her Favorite Mistake” really peaked my interest from the start. The story line is so dynamic one feels like they could relate with the struggles, mistakes, and family love. The interaction of the main character and her favorite mistake was fantastic…it had me laughing at times and wondering how it would turn out at other times. There is a nice balance of romance, humor, and personal relationships throughout the story. The Windy City Romance Series by Barbara Lohr had me hooked, as I stated [...]

    2. Review left by Leigh a Book Worms ReviewerHer Favorite Mistake Review Vanessa and her sister Jillian go on a TV show that has financial backers for companies they deem worthy. Vanessa sees that one of those people just happens to be a one-night stand she had in Vegas. She didn’t even know his name until he was properly introduced to her on this reality TV show. Alex is a successful businessman who is filling in for another host of this reality TV show. When he sees Vanessa, and actually learn [...]

    3. Her Favorite Mistake (Windy City Romance #1) by Barbara Lohr3.5 stars!!Vanessa runs the family business “Randall’s Whipped Cream Cakes,” on the outside she may seem the consummate professional but in reality she is rapidly unravelling. She feels totally out of control of her life and she doesn’t like it. With her grandfather’s ailing health and her sisters ongoing battle with Leukaemia and also add into the mix that she is a single mum of a three year old, her stress levels are at an a [...]

    4. “I guess every woman has her favorite mistake.”Vanessa and Jillian Randall nervously approach 5 entrepreneurs on a reality tv show, desperately hoping for backing for their family-owned bakery, Randall’s Whipped Cream Cakes. What Vanessa wasn’t expecting, was that one of those entrepreneurs was her “hunky hottie” from four years prior. 5. A lovely ever afterWhenever I read a romance, I want to be a part of the couple's happiness. Ms. Lohr sweeps you along into her magical place of love, whether mismatched or mistaken. A sweet, touching romp that is sure to make you smile.

    6. I haven't read a sweet contemporary adult romance in a while, and I when I saw this book I had a feeling I'd enjoy reading it and I did. It took me about an hour and a half to read it, which should tell you it was a good book; I was turning pages as fast I could read them. I hadn't read anything written by Barbara Lohr before this, but I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of this trilogy. We're first introduced to Vanessa and her sister Jillian as they make an appearance on a reality tele [...]

    7. > 3.5/5 stars. This story is about a single mom that owns a struggling bakery and enters some kind of reality show which will sponsored her, helping her on making her business rise up. There, she encounters a big, big surprise that changes her whole life.I really liked the story, but I have to confess that I have a hard time reading books on 3rd person. Not that I don't like it, I just prefer 1st person books. I also had some trouble following the storyline towards the end. Things started happ [...]

    8. I really liked this book. Vanessa had quite a bit on her plate. The men in her life sure seemed to never be there for her. So, you can see why she has trouble trying to trust Alex; she's used to taking care of things herself. Her Grandfather Joe, being the only exception so far. Even with all the pressures she has, another thing she also has is a loving family She also has several close girlfriends that she has know since forever. One of my favorite phrases in the book was, when Vanessa was at a [...]

    9. Everyone make mistakes. Some mistakes are not worth of mention, but some mistakes you could do it again and again without regrets. To save family business Vanessa is prepared and appears on popular Reality Show on TV, Eye of the Tiger. When she shows on stage she saw him, her Vegas Hunky Hottie one-night stand in one of the entrepreneurs’ seats. She is in panic but does not allow anyone to see that and pray he doesn’t recognize her. When Alex saw Vanessa he recognize her immediately, but she [...]

    10. I needed a light read after the psychological thriller I had just finished. Her Favorite Mistake fit the bill. A light, funny, quick read. The story line is very typical with no real twists. That's not a bad thing when you're looking for a light read. Her Favorite Mistake was interesting enough to keep me reading and I finished the book in one day. I'll return to this series between my heavier psychological thrillers, that's for sure. The first thing that grabbed me about this series is the sett [...]

    11. 4 STARS!I really liked this book. It was a sweet, funny, sexy, fast read that kept me on my toes and rooting for a happy ending for Alex and Vanessa. This book was on the lighter side so it was nice to read a book that is more relaxing and doesn't keep you on edge the whole time. This is Vanessa and Alex's story. Vanessa and her sister own a struggling bakery and are about to be mentored by two very wealthy men. What she doesn't expect is one of them to be someone she is very familiar with, her V [...]

    12. Vanessa Randall has a lot going on in her life. She is the CEO of her family’s business ‘Randall’s Whipped Cream Cakes’, single parent of her 3 year old son Bo, her grandfather is slowly going blind leaving and her sister Jillian is trying to get through a tough battle with Leukaemia. Oh, and did I mention that the bills are mounting up from medical treatments?Which brings us to “Eye of the Tiger’, a television show where young entrepreneurs go to present their ideas to a panel of fi [...]

    13. This story captured my attention from the first page. Vanessa and her sister win a reality show prize where two wealthy men mentor them and their bakery business as well as providing much needed financial support. The duo are trying to save their fledging business as well as pay for one sister’s chemo and provide support for Vanessa’s young son. Vanessa has one major problem with the two mentors/financial backers: Alex is part of her favorite mistake, a one-night stand in Las Vegas a while b [...]

    14. I really enjoyed this read. The way Vanessa and Alex "reunite" was very unique, and I ate it up. The story takes place in Chicago and the surrounding area. I may have enjoyed it more than others because I have been to many of the places mentioned in this book or at least know of them. What starts off as revenge on Alex's part quickly becomes love without Vanessa or Alex realizing it. Once the backing for the business is secured, Alex keeps creating excuses to pop in on Vanessa under the guise of [...]

    15. Very lighthearted and refreshingI received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book because it was so refreshingly light even with such serious subject matter. Barbara did a wonderful job with such subjects such as cancer, abandonment and out of wedlock birth and have a hero involved without getting too heavy and dramatic. The characters were well developed and believable with their own personal quirks and fears. The scenes were well written as well. I coul [...]

    16. This is the first book I have ever read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I love that Vanessa is a strong, independent woman working her but off to do whatever it takes to make it for her family. I LOVE, LOVE Bo!! He was such a doll!! And Alex, well the Hunky Hottie he is for sure. My only complaint about the book was I felt it took awhile to for Vanessa and Alex to get to a place of happiness and then it was like BAM there it is and then it was over. I just wish we saw a little more of Al [...]

    17. Her Favorite Mistake is a satisfying read about Vanessa's bid to keep the family business afloat by appearing on a game show with her sister. Little does she know, a Vegas one night stand is one of the mentors waiting to bid on her bakery. After gaining mentor-ship of the bakery, Vanessa is reminded of her steamy one night with Alex and the consequences from it.The chemistry between Vanessa and Alex is amazing. Even with all of Vanessa's resistance, you can clearly see that the two are meant to [...]

    18. Alex and Vanessa’s chemistry was great. The minute they reconnected on the TV show you knew something was going to happen between them. Only problem was that Vanessa had to protect something very important to her so she keeps her distance from him. Unfortunetly that doesnt happen. Alex is the person to back her business which means she has to work closely with him.Sparks fly when these two finally connected. Secrets came out and love happened.4.5 stars

    19. Who hasn’t dreamed of winning big on television? Well, Vanessa and her sister Jillian do just that when they are on “Eye of the Tiger” and are chosen to be mentored by two wealthy men. Vanessa did not expect to have one of those mentors be “her favorite mistake” but that is just who Alex Compton happens to be. This is the story of family and how family creates who we become and how that impacts our relationships. It is the story of a single mother who is afraid to trust and a man who c [...]

    20. Read my full review on Book BumblingsThis book didn't really hit the mark for me, but it was kind of cute. I think book hangover might have been part of the issue. I read it after a somewhat similar book - set in Chicago, female lead owns a bakery, etc. - that I really, really loved. But I couldn't really connect and found the writing choppy, which probably kept some of the narrative from feeling more human, more real. When you study writing, you always hear that the best writing doesn't feel lik [...]

    21. SwoonTwo people, who put their put the problems with people in their past on the people in their present. Gets even more confusing, when they have a past as well. This is a really sweet love story, it is an easy read. Though your heart breaks, neither had parents that were the model of love, when those past hurts stop them from loving in the present. Throw a child in the mix and wow do you have trouble! Please read if you want an enjoyable romance novel, you havr passion, angst, jealously, chemi [...]

    22. 3 bombs--Can’t say that it was romantic because there really wasn’t much romance in this one. No steamy scenes so if that’s what you’re looking for, you won’t find it here. They had one night stand 4 years ago in Vegas. They’ve been brought back into each other’s lives and realize that one night stand meant more to them than they thought. They’re somewhat forced to work together and although he admits the attraction, she still has her guard up. He eventually breaks down her walls [...]

    23. Vanessa goes on reality tv with her sister to win money for their bakery and to help get them back in the black after her sister's illness is draining their liquidity. The one judge she wants to impress is off for the night and in his place is the one person Vanessa thought she would never see again, her one and only one-nighter, and she gets her precious son out of the deal. This is a fun book and I love the way Alex realizes he wants to help them.Might become one of my favorite books!

    24. This was an enjoyable book. It was interesting, though I feel some parts of the plot have been done too much, the rest was really refreshing. It was a fun read. I liked the dynamic between Vanessa and Alex. The sparks between them lit up the pages. Vanessa's struggle with herself was really good for the plot. I liked to actually see a romance build instead of it being based all on chemistry. This was a fantastic read. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

    25. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a page turner from the start. As you read you find yourself lost in the pages and -in my case don't realize it's 3am until you finish it. :) The characters are relatable and storyline is well developed. But warning if you have a sweet tooth you will be craving bakery sweets! Looking forward to the next installment and many more from this author.

    26. I received a copy of this book for an honest review. The story gets your attention right away. Another great book by Barbara Lohr. It was so good I read it in one day. The romance of Alex and Vanessa was wonderful. You feel the emotions of the characters which make you feel a part of the story. A perfect book for the beach, lake house, or cabin so curl up and enjoy! Love, love, love books by Barbara Lohr!

    27. A wonderful lighthearted romance. This couple are like that one couple everyone knows, they belong together forever but for some reason take quite a long time to figure it out.In this book there is passionate love, soul bearing moments of intense emotion, and a hard leap of faith that leads to lasting trust and a deeper love.

    28. A sweet heartwarming love story. I really enjoyed the the fact that the main characters were you're normal everyday people. Alex is a lovable nerd and Vanessa is a single mom. They could be your neighhbors. This is a story about fear and love and hope. You can't help but cheer for this couple from start to finish. Reviewed by: Tara Greseth

    29. Bakery sweetMs. Love pens a sweet, contemporary romance between a baker and a tech entrepreneur. Real life meets fairytale ending with a bit of spice. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    30. “I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review”. It was a lovely story with all the right things in it. It keeps your attention throughout. Not sure how either one of them kept as calm as they did for as long as they did. But is a lovely story worth reading.
