    2. Yaaay, I finished a book in two days! I'm meeting the author tomorrow! I completed my reading challenge! All is well. This was such a nice children's fantasy book, I wish it had been around when I was ten! My child-self would have related so much to Clara and been dying with excitement over her fire trials and envied her all her animal friends. It's not The Shamer's Daughter, but it's hard to compete with a childhood favourite. Lene Kaaberbøl has done a wonderful job with this book and I wish it [...]

    4. I received a digital copy of this title from the publisher via Netgalley.Ten Second Synopsis:Clara always thought she was ordinary until strange, dangerous things start happening around her. Whisked off to learn the ways of the wildwitch from her aunty, Clara thinks she'll be safe, if a little bored, but nothing could be further than the truth. This is a delightful, timeless-feeling story of witchery and magic with a down-to-earth heroine. There's something charmingly old-fashioned about the styl [...]

    5. This book really caught my eye. I think the cover is very cute, and I love black cats. The book was originally published in Danish under the title, Vidheks: Ildproven in 2010. It is being re-published in English as translated by Charlotte Barslund. Clara Ash is a 12 year old girl who, right in the beginning of the book, has a run in with a large black cat. "It was the biggest cat I had ever seen. It was the size of my friend Oscar's Labrador and just as black. Its eyes glowed neon yellow in the d [...]

    6. I can't resist books with cats! And to add to the enjoyment, this one has a dog and a horse as well. What more could one want?Wildwitch is by an award-winning Danish author, Lene Kaaberbøl, and is the first in a series. It introduces Clara, a nice, ordinary 12-year-old who lives with her single mum and is best friends with Oscar. Her world changes when she's attacked without reason by a huge black cat. When she develops a high fever her mother takes her away from the city to visit Aunt Isa, who [...]

    7. The entire family listened to the audiobook while driving through Germany on our way to summer vacation. We were greatly entertained. The heroine, Clara, is an average tween girl struggling with well known problems such as self-esteem, boys, parents etc, when she suddenly realizes, that she's also a witch. Shortly after she's forced into the wizarding world more or less willingly, when her life is threatened by the evil witch Chimera. The worldbuilding is well made and has it's own logic. Recomm [...]

    9. This Takes A While to Get Wild, Then It Takes OffThis is the first in a four book series that follows the training and adventures of twelve year old "wildwitch" Clara Ash. It was originally published in Denmark; the author is not only a well regarded children's/YA author there, but also well known for her adult suspense thrillers, (in the "Dragon Tattoo" style). So, right off the bat you know you're in good hands. At the start, though, one begins to wonder. Clara Ash, appropriately nicknamed "Mou [...]

    11. Thanks to edelweiss for the previer. It's really nice this first adventure of the wildwich Clara.I still don't know if Lene Kaaberbøl can really be compared to Rowling, but reading this first chapter I was kidnapped. I'm curious to read the other volumes.I also liked the illustrations thet immortalize the highlights of the book. The fact that among the protagonists there is a cat could only be one more element of pleasure. Non so ancora s [...]

    13. Half of the book was read as an audiobook in the car, and the rest of the book I read for my daughter. She was captivated by the story from the beginning. She's 6 1/2 yrs old and she loves fantasy and animals + a heroine who has to be smart and overcome challenges, so this book was a perfect match.Generally, I would think the book would be suited for children from 8 yrs, but my daughter still loved it.

    14. Vildt god bog.

    16. It's one of those times where you accidentally read a while book in one sitting! Loved this little story!I loved how it was written, you could really imagine everything that was happening. I will definitely be reading the sequel.

    17. My first Kaaberboel book ever. I had to read this for work and I must say I really enjoyed it very much. The mystery, the ideas of the story and Chimera. I have to get this one for my own collection and also read the other ones in the series.

    18. Clara is attacked by a large black cat on the way to school. When she gets sick from the wounds, her mother takes her to visit Aunt Isa for the first time. Isa is a wildwitch, and it looks like Clara might be too. The cat is only the start though. There's something else going on, and it's soon apparent that Clara needs training in order to defend herself. The book looked as though it was inspired by traditional European witches. This is of particular interest to me, given my family connections. I [...]

    20. Twelve-year-old Clara leads a very ordinary life, until the day she meets a huge black cat with glowing yellow eyes, who deliberately scratches her. Her mother behaves almost hysterically and quite rightly too, because before very long Clara begins to have some very strange and life-threatening experiences as she wanders into the mysterious Wildways and meets the evil Chimera. This is the type of tale that will be very familiar to its readers; a young girl whose family background is that of white [...]

    21. I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewThis is a children’s fantasy book that will be enjoyed by any Harry Potter fans. 12 year-old Clara has no idea that she has magical powers until she falls seriously ill after being scratched by a massive aggressive black cat. She is then attacked by a winged woman, Chimera, and has to seek shelter with her aunt, who tries to teach her about the wildwitch ways. All Clara wants to do is to get back home to her [...]

    22. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my review. The cover illustration is what drew me to this particular book, I wanted to know all about that cat. Clara is a young, quiet girl who lives with her mother and is one day attacked by a giant cat. After experiencing some other unexplained things she is whisked away to live with an aunt she's never really met, and learn about a magic she never knew she had. What made this book different from many others for me was that Clara wa [...]

    23. "Cats go their own way," Master Millaconda said. "If you wind up with one of those for your wildfriend, you don't own a cat, the cat owns you."I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange of a review.I really liked this book. I don't usually read middle school books, but the cover caught my eye the moment I saw it and the premise seemed interesting. I admit it, it was the cat.Since it's a very short book I wasn't expecting a lot for the characters, but I liked them fairly enough and [...]

    25. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. That in way way affects my review.I'll be honest and say that I was initially drawn to this book because of the cat. When I was young, I read lots of books about children and their cat-pals (both magically and mundane) and these types of stories have a special place in my heart.Once I started reading, however, I was very drawn to the characters and the general plot, as well as the world Lene has created. This is really more of an introduction to the [...]

    26. I received a copy of this book for review from netgalley.I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Wildwitch by Lene Kaaberbol. While this book is for children, probably 8-13 years old, I think that most adults with imagination will enjoy it as well. The author used a lot of descriptive words that will help any child (or adult) picture the world in which Clara was thrown into. At 12 years old, Clara finds out that she's a wildwitch and that an evil woman wants to take her. She goes to live and study [...]
