    1. 4** Scottie an easygoing guy who takes a seven days break and goes on his own hiking and camping. What follows is a very nice and enjoyable review of the forest, hiking, the shots with the camera.Scottie is exhausted from early waking and long walks. Then there is the thunder and lightning.Jax hard working on a fire in the forest and getting an update about a hiker who didn't get through any checkpoints. Stupid idiot hiker Jax and his fellow firefighters luckily finding Scotty who is unconscious [...]

    2. 2.5 starsI'm sorry, but that's how I felt reading this. Utterly bored out of my damn mind. It seemed wayyyer longer then what it was, but I just couldn't grasp any of it. I mean once Scottie got going with his mojo it completely put me to sleep. I liked that it was different in the setting and circumstances, but it never felt real between the two. Was it survivor's remorse or guilt for Jax getting injured that made Scottie so interested in him. It was no, but to me it didn't seem authentic enoug [...]

    3. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4It wasn't a bad book. The beginning was great, the rescue and how they spent time together but I have to admit it kind of dragged just a bit in the middle for me. I'm thinking because the beginning was actioned filled with him getting rescued. The middle was about them healing and spending time together. They were very sweet together though

    4. ‘On Fire’ is set in Washington State, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about many of the places I have visited before, and a few that are now on my list of destinations not to miss next time I travel there. Like with previous installments of the ‘States of Love’ series, a collection of romantic stories that spans every corner of the United States, this newest volume gives a great taste of the geography, the people who live and work there, and some of the dangers one might come across. Li [...]

    5. States of Love Series – Washington State. This novella length story flows along much like those streams in the Pacific Northwest – sometimes a bit turbulent, sometimes happily burbling. On Fire starts out a bit turbulent as Jax’s hotshot crew is informed that there is a civilian camping in an area a backburn was scheduled for, and Jax is pissed he has to save a pansy-assed city boy from his own stupidity. Scottie, in his defense, did everything he was supposed to, but just ended up in the [...]

    6. This is a cute series about boys falling in love all over the US. In this installment our boys are in my neck of the woods, Vancouver, WA/Portland OR. They also hang out in Olympic National Park and Seattle, so I guess it’s more a Washington book than an Oregon one but… it’s still all wonderful scenery! We start out with some danger but that’s about it for angst. Our boys fall for each other fairly quickly and only injuries sustained in the fire keep them from moving forward at a break-ne [...]

    7. *Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by Dreamspinner Press for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.*On Fire is part of the States of Love series and the first book I've read by Alicia Nordwell. Scottie Ness decides to spend his vacation hiking and picture taking in the forest. He grew up hiking, camping and exploring with his family so this is a relaxing vacation for him. He's prepared and has taken all precautions possible, but didn't prepare to be [...]

    8. Okay, first we have Scottie; businessman, city boy who gets a week vacation from work and decides to do what his family has always done and spend some time out in the wilderness. Hiking and camping and just getting away to the quiet of nature and take some pictures of the mountains, that’s his hobby and he’s quite good at it. He’s responsible about it as well, he leaves daily reports and checks in with park rangers and safety spots so that if he runs into any trouble, the correct people wi [...]

    9. 3 Stars for this States of Love book. I really enjoyed the last one and the uniqueness of the setting and characters, so in comparison, this book fell way flat. But taking that comparison away, On Fire was a decent read – especially at the beginning. When the book starts out, you meet Scottie at work as a graphic designer (wearing a suit though?!?!), about to head out of town on holiday where he’ll be spending the week hiking and taking pictures. What happens is a good read… the unexpected [...]

    10. This has just become my second favourite story of Alicia's. The first will always be Pricolici as it was the first one of hers I read :)Anyway back to this storyI loved the slow burn with the relationship. It was great to read a story that didn't have insta love, or a whirlwind romance ending in a solid couple within a few days/weeks.My favorite character is actually Jax. He was so funny when he was all snarly in the hospital. His attitude at the beginning made me wonder, but of course he's a te [...]

    11. They have chemistry and some humor. Add in the fire and the amazing scene details plus action, you Ms. Nordwell have yourself a very successful book. thetbrpile.weebly/reviews/

    12. Scotty is a computer worker that loves to hike and take pictures. He dreams of making coffee table books of mountain photos. There is a lot to take pictures of in Washington where he lives. He didn't know there were threats of a wildfire when he mapped out his vacation plans Jax and his team of firefighters are on the last leg of their over time mission. They have set their backfire to turn the fire around when they get word of a camper not accounted for and have to find him. Jax is angry at the [...]

    13. I found this interesting at times - the fire, Scottie camping, the trips they took - but at others a bit too much telling. I don’t mind finding out how he made his lean to camp site in detail but getting out of the shower at that level is a bit too much - I can extrapolate. I liked the slow burn between Scottie and Jax as necessitated by Jax’s injuries. (Did wonder why Dave’s much worse injuries faded away).Interesting travel facts and once the fire had happened, very much a character lead [...]

    14. Probably closer to 2.5/5. I liked the characters, but there just wasn't much there. More background and build up of the relationship would have been nice.

    15. Scottie is one of those people who loves nature and his idea of an amazing vacation is going in to the mountains and camping and becoming one with nature. He enjoys hiking and getting as many pictured as he can of the wildlife and mountains. His vacation is planned and going perfectly until there is a lightning storm that sparks a forest fire. Unfortunately Scottie is caught in the middle of it and if it was not for the firefighter that risked his life and was injured also in the process then Sc [...]

    16. Some interesting conflict started near the beginning when Jax saved Scottie from the fire and then was acting like a jerk and I was looking forward to how that would resolve. I didn't have long to wait. It was over fast and the rest of the story was a bit of a yawnfest.
