    4. Why do I keep reading romance novels? Oh yah, because I was inspired by that documentary, I love supporting local/little known authors, I also like supportingfemaleauthors, aaaand they can be quite feminist in nature. Alright, good. Now that I have reminded myself of that, onto the review of York'sCurse of the Healer .Last week the second book of this series Eyes of the Seer was up as a Kindle freebie. It must have been the mood I was in, but nonetheless, I was intrigued. Of course I cannot star [...]

    5. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy (via Netgalley) of this book. Curse of the Healer by Ashley York is a tale worthy to be re-read over and over again. It pulls at the heartstrings, and also leaves you on the edge of your seat for worry over the characters. I was excited to read Aednat’s story because we were introduced to her in the The Norman Conquest Series. A disabled heroine that focuses on healing, not expecting love, but has oh so much to give.  I love that the heroine was [...]

    6. Review - Curse of The Healer; The Derbfine Series book 1 by Ashley York. This is first book I have read by Ashley York and I can absolutely say it will not be the last, what an absolutely wonderful way to be introduced to York’s writing. This is such a thrilling and intelligent tale that entwine’s myths and legends so effortlessly with an original love story.Diarmuid reminds me of a wild wolf, leader of his little wolf pack. He is wild, viscous when he needs to be, caring and loving a natural [...]

    7. Every time I think Ashley York has thrown at me everything there is left to surprise me pleasantly in a story, she seems to take it as a personal challenge and surpasses even herself with the next book she has coming up. Each story of hers is like a whole new experience, and while many characters in them are ones I've seen in her other stories as well, they still manage to catch me off guard!Aednat and Diarmuid's story was no different. From the beginning I could see I was gonna love this couple [...]

    8. Have you ever read a story and become so immersed in the characters and the world the author created that when the story ended it made you sad? Your heart sank because you didn’t want to leave that world or the new friends you’d just gotten to know. They were “real” to you. Still are. So you re-read the story—and re-read it again to keep from leaving.I just had that experience with Curse of the Healer by Ashley York. Ashley York immediately drew me into the story. I was emotionally inv [...]

    9. The Author has done a great job with this book. The storyline, plot, all mesh well. You feel the characters as they go through their troubles and excitements, and everyday lives. There is enough excitement, ups and downs to keep you glued to the book. The side characters are well done, ones you want to meet again, and some you have already met. I cannot say enough about this book. It really does pull you in and make you want to be a part of the book. I love how I can see everything as if I was t [...]

    10. Fantastic introduction to a new series! I LOVED LOVED LOVED Ashley York's first book, Curse of the Healer, in her new series The Derbfine! Be ready to be swept away to this amazing tale set in the 11th century. The author nicely blended her characters into a well developed plot, filled with passion and danger. I'm so happy that Ms. York decided to write this new series, it's so nicely written, that the words seemed to flow on the pages to keep my interest until the very last page. How refreshing [...]

    11. Curse of the Healer by Ashley York is her newest novel and a start of a new series called Descendents of the High King. Ashley York is the queen of writing about the early Middle Ages. She not only makes us feel like we are among the characters, but we worry about them and care about the outcome. We met Aednat before in a previous book and learned about her difficult early life. Aednat is the healer from the title. She has trained and accepted the consequences of that - to be alone - no children [...]

    12. Yet another wonderful journey into medieval Ireland, in this story we have Sean's cousin Aednat, if you read Seventh Son you may remember her. Well she's all grown up now and a healer within Sean's clan, there is however, a small problem, there's a very nasty man, called Black Oengus and he's after Aednat because he thinks she's the great healer of legend who will grant him much power and make him High King if he takes her virginity. So to get Aednat to safety, Sean calls on one of his chiefs Dai [...]

    13. This is a great book which I highly recommend. It is set in the 11 century Ireland during a very hard time to live. Aednat is a great healer and it seems like everyone wants to kidnap her to gain her power. Diamuid is known for his bravery in battle. He has been assigned to keep Aednat safe. They are both wonderful characters who have great verbal interchanges. This is definitely a book I will be keeping to read over and over again. I won this book from the contest at .

    17. Curse of the Healer is the first book in the Descendants of the High King series, and introduces us to a world gone by, a world very different to our own. Aednat was born with a clubbed foot, and banished from her clan by her grandfather. Her cousin, Sean, returns her to the fold when he takes over, but Aednat is never quite welcomed. Also, as a healer, she is regarded with suspicion and mostly ignored unless her skills are needed. Sean calls for a meeting of all the clan leaders, but betrayal l [...]

    18. I received this book from net galley for an honest review. Thank you!!This novel was a very good read. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. The story contains romance and action, as well as judgmental people.Aednat is a healer who lives with her cousin since she was cast out by her grandfather due to her clubbed foot. Who would want to marry someone with a deformity? She is seen as "weak", but Aednat is far from that. It is believed she is the Great Healer who could make any warrior the next h [...]

Opinions are entirely my own.

I felt like reading a quick, well-written romance, something I could enjoy without having to put too much thought into. That is exactly what I got. 23. Diarmuid, a fierce and honorable warrior has one weakness, his fear of exposing his heart. Aednat a beautiful healer, who’s much sought after skill targets her to danger, possesses the one thing to cure Diarmuid’s hardened heart. Can the undeniable attraction between these two survive the Curse of the Healer and a damaged heart? Ashley York heroes come in all shapes and sizes but Diarmuid definitely pushed the envelope with his gruff and surly manner until the envelope was opened and one ama [...]
