    1. I have not read the first book in the Porter Hall series. It may be helpful to do so, however this book stands alone fairly well. Porter Hall appears to be a magnet for trouble. His family life is complicated, as is his life in general. I didn't find a lot to like about him, and I do prefer to read about protagonists who are at least fairly likable. I suspect others would find him more so, perhaps I just don't have much respect for men who sleep with every willing woman. His only saving grace in [...]
