    1. I won a proof book in a Giveaway contest by William Morrow Books and this is my honest review. Some grow up having never known or even met their extended family due to choice of their parents, or perhaps going back further generations. That is the case with Katie, having met her Grandma Margaret, Gomma, once as a child, all because she and her mom didn’t get along. Years later, with a career, husband and life in Boston, Katie receives word that her Gomma has passed away and left her in her wi [...]

This is a story that encompasses 80 years and is chock full of unexpected surprises. The story alternates between Katie Garrett’s life and that of her GrandmotherGomma. Historically based it details a 1937 tragedy and the replacement children called the Daisy Children. The characters are nicely developed and each has their own interesting story to tell. 4. I was fortunate to win this early release book through Giveaway from William Morrow and I am grateful. I personally did not know about the New London school explosion and reading this book certainly prompted me to research further. How the author took this tragic event and then built a story around it spanning over generations was amazing but so life like. People make choices that can haunt lives for years to come. It is a sad story based on the school explosion, one can always wonder what if i [...]

    5. I loved this book. Great story. Katie, who lives in Boston, has had almost no relationship with her mother's family in Texas. Her grandmother dies and leaves her something in her will. She travels to Texas, where she meets her cousin, and learns about her family. Katie is the granddaughter of one of the Daisy Children, the children who were born to parents about nine months after a tragic accident at the local elementary school that killed hundreds of children. Alternating between Katie's life a [...]

    6. When Katie Garrett receives an inheritance from a grandmother she had met just once, she travels back to Texas to claim it. Once there, she begins to uncover the secrets her family had hidden for years. One of the stories she uncovers as she searches for her past involves the Daisy children, children born to replace some of the hundreds of children killed in a school explosion in 1937.

    7. I enjoyed reading this book very much. It had a lot of unexpected turns and was hard to put down when you were reading. You always wanted to find out what was happening next.
