    1. Cool. Fleur Beale Is my favourite NZ author. This book was cool. I really like a strong character and I would say Minna is very much a strong character. There was a lot of drama going on in the book and a few twists which kept you on your toes just enough to keep you reading. The author kept bringing in more and more drama throughout the story and the character remains true to her form except for the fact that she grows up a bit as a situation is thrown upon her which causes her to rely on her o [...]

    2. I got given this book for my birthday, so I didn't really have a choice but to read it. Usually i wouldn't pick up a book like this, as the main character was so unlike me in every way. I found myself laughing at the things that actually mattered to Minna, and hating her friends. I think my problem with Minna was the fact that she was every schools 'popular girl'. She hated schoolwork, would never dream of doing someone an honest favour out of the good of her heart, and has probably never read a [...]

    3. Picked this up at a book fair. It is the story of Minna, a 14 year old girl about to embark on her first relationship with a boy. Her mum is pregnant after an affair with a toy-boy, her dad is there in body only and her older brother is a stoner. In two words: dysfunctional family. One day her dad announces that they will all be going to a remote island in Cook Strait to do conservation work and film themselves for the next Reality TV series.Probably more for the teens, it was a tear-jerker and [...]

    4. Ugh. I absolutely LOVED this book. It was so amazing. Ok. So the beginning was boring as but the second half of the book was FABULOUS. you could see throughout the story how Minna changed, how she learned to cook and garden, talked to the chooks and willingly wore the 'bush clothes'. I just really loved this book. claps for Fluer Beale. And, I dunno, I would call the ending happy. Would you?

    5. I had to read this book for an english assignmenti thought it was cool as to begin with, but then it kinda went downhill from there. It was alright i guess :)
