    1. I recently finished reading Marta Perry's book, "Restless Hearts". This book is a Love Inspired book and was originally copyrighted in 2007 by Martha Johnson , then copyrighted in 2008 by Harlequin Books. This edition of the book was published by arrangement by Steeple Hill Books. This book is a romance mystery. Yes, it does have some "Amish" in it, but it is a mix between the "Amish" and "English" worlds. The main character, Fiona Flanagan has been brought up in the "English" world. She decides [...]

    2. I seldom like Christian Romances as they usually seem too wholesome for real life, but because this one was set in PA Amish country, I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did.The book opened my eyes to the Amish lifestyle a little more than they had been and the love that blossomed between the two characters, well it wasn't really love it was a realization that they were attracted to one another beyond the friendship they had throughout.Marta's story is fast-paced and an easy enjoyable read for women [...]

    3. One day I will understand what possessed my young mind to be able to truly enjoy these books. They are all basically the same. There are always two reluctant people who aren't looking for love, and yet their attraction literally leads them to each other, and then they discover some friendship, and then they reluctantly fall in love. At the very end, they finally confess their love for each other, once they've faced a conflict that appeared would tear them apart. The whole point is merely for the [...]

    4. As I have stated in the past, Christian fiction is not my forte. However, this had a wonderful Amish twist that made it much more interesting. In fact, it would have been a better book had it been longer and more focused on the Amish piece. Perry did not stick to all the standards that are common knowledge and that kept the book flowing. Fiona Flanagan comes to Pennsylvania Dutch Country to reconnect with her father's family but she ends up meeting her mother's family and learning about a side o [...]

    5. This was a cute quick read for me. I knew little about the Amish before reading it so made it more interesting for me since I learned something in the process of reading the story. Very sweet.

    6. Restless Hearts by Marta Perry is the first Christian romance I’ve read. This well-written romance deals with two troubled souls as most romances do. Fiona Flanagan, a nurse-midwife, is searching for her roots, her family. She’s looking to finally belong someplace, to be accepted as she is, to be loved by family. Ted Rittenhouse is the town police chief. He truly cares about the people he serves. His Amish upbringing and career choice often collide and cause tension in his life. And then Fla [...]

    7. Midwife Fiona Flanagan settles down in the Pennsylvania Dutch country in search of her mother's roots, only to find out that the Amish and English culture are way out of her comfort zone. But when law enforcement shows up in the form of handsome Ted Rittenhouse, Fiona follows his lead by making friends with her new neighbors. Unfortunately, the past carries a certain isolation she never expected.Fiona's pursuit to help deliver the community's babies gets thwarted when a group of vandals hits [...]

    8. Fiona Flanagan is a young woman set to start a life far away from the family she has known, that has never really wanted her. She travels to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, a place where her mother’s family was from, partly to get in touch with her roots, but mainly because she feels called to go there and open her practice as a Nurse/Midwife. Almost as soon as she enters the town of Crossroads, Pennsylvania she gets on the wrong side of the town police chief, Ted Rittenhouse. He thought she was b [...]

    9. Fiona Flanagan's mother left the community during her running-around years to marry an Englisher, but died soon after her daughter's birth. As a result, Fiona has never known anything about her mother's Amish relatives, and harbours hurt that they never tried to get in contact. Yet despite her claims that she doesn't feel the need to delve deeper into her Amish heritage, Fiona jumps at the opportunity to open a midwifery clinic in Pennsylvania Dutch country - where she immediately runs into her [...]

    10. I got a free gift from Love Inspired the other day, a larger print version of Restless Hearts by Marta Perry. So when the guys sat down to watch the soccer match (Liverpool won) I curled up to nurse the dregs of a day-long headache and quietly read. I found that my reading rate, with headache, is approximately one Love Inspired romance per soccer match, but perhaps I’d have to read a few more samples to confirm that. Unfortunately, even though their prices are really good, and only a dollar ex [...]

    11. Restless Hearts by: Marta PerryMy rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars At a time in each of our lives we have all been lost; whether it be physically or mentally there’s no escaping the dread that is destined to come with. For Fiona Flanagan there were many challenges in her choice of lifestyle that resulted in her becoming lost, in both aspects. In many stories the main characters are faced with struggles to overcome in an everyday matter, but in “Restless Hearts” by: Marta Perry it’s the way tha [...]

    12. This was a wholesome, well written book about love, family, and trust. The main character, Fiona, moves to the community her mother & father's family are from. Fiona never knew her mother, she died while Fiona was still an infant. Fiona's father, unable/willing to raise an infant, sends her off to foster care and later remarries and starts a new family. Fiona eventually rejoins him and his new wife, but she never feels as if she truely belongs. She does not know much about her mother or why [...]

    13. Road To RomanceA search for her roots brought midwife Fiona Flanagan to Pennsylvania Dutch country – and made her wonder whether she should turn back. The area's mixture of Amish and English culture confused her, and her first encounter with local police chief Ted Rittenhouse didn't help. He'd though she was breaking into her own office!Despite the misunderstanding, Fiona could see that Ted's tough-as-nails exterior hid a kind soul – one caught between two worlds, seeking a place to belong. [...]

    14. Set in a small town in Pennsylvania, Restless Hearts introduces the reader to small town life and Amish culture. Moving from a large city, the heroine slowly wins the heart of the small suspicious Pennsylvania town and builds a successful midwife practice. She is also reunited with her large, close knit extended family after growing up in foster care. The setting is interesting and possibly educational, but Restless Hearts is basically a predictable PG romance. The male lead is tall, buff, has th [...]

    15. Series "The Flanigans", book #6 Restless HeartsThis is older book that I picked up at goodwill liking this author. Fiona Flanagan lost her mother at a young age and her father sent her into foster care when he could not care for her alone. Years later she goes to live with him when he remarries but life is not the same. She finds out that her mother came from an amish background and left the home she was raised in to marry her father. Now Fiona wants to go back to the area where many amish live [...]

    16. This is a heartwarming Christian romance! This is the first book that Marta Perry wrote that I have ever written. I will definitely be looking for her other books. She has created an incredible blend of Amish and English characters. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how the people from the two different cultures interacted with each other. As Fiona Flanagan was trying to come to an understanding of the Amish was of life it was very clearly and simply explained so that as an English reader I was also ab [...]

    17. I'm not really sure how to rate this book. I mean, I finished the whole thing in an hour or two because I was curious to know what happenedbut it is, of course, a ridiculous Christian romance novel. I like to think of it as containing two different romantic story lines: the obvious one between the protagonist, Fiona Flanagan, and small-town cop Ted Rittenhouse; and the love that develops in the background between Fiona and her discovery of Amish culture.Of course, the ending was totally predicta [...]

    18. This was a really good book set in Pennsylvania's Amish country. Its about a woman who is in search of her roots. Fiona is a nurse midwife in San Francisco and has had a less than wonderful upbringing. She takes a leap of faith and decides to find her roots, which lead her to Crossroads Township, PA. Her fathers family is Mennonite and she has been in contact with them for some while via letters, but he mothers family is Amish and she has never had any contact with them. Deciding to stay in the [...]

    19. So, I have this habit of picking up books from the free shelf in the public library and they turn out being part of a series. Of course the one I pick up is never the first one, but sometimes it works out that I don't HAVE to read the rest of the books to understand what is going on. I usual do not read the other books anyway unless I am either really confused or like the series. Anyway, here is the actual review:This was a refreshing, short read. I would not say it is completely inspiring in it [...]

    20. This is a romance book I received for free in the mail. It is a Love Inspired book by Steeple Hill. They are trying to get me to join a club. This is the 2nd book I have received and read by Steeple Hill. This book is about a woman who moves from San Francisco to Pennsylvania Dutch to become a mid wife. I found the story fast moving and couldn't stop reading it. It is nice to read a book about love and god together. Fiona moves to Pennsylvania Dutch and finds the families she has been missing all [...]

    21. I liked a lot about this book. I haven't read a book where the characters pray throughout their daily routines since Are You There God, It's Me Margaret. I loved that part of the book, I'll have to read more like that.On the other hand, I couldn't understand Fiona's amish relatives. Why were they practically shunning her? I tried hard to figure it out when it was explained during different parts of the book but I never understood. It just was really unfair when Fiona had never met them before. A [...]

    22. Fiona Flanagan, a newly minted nurse midwife, returns to Pennsylvania Dutch country to start her business and runs into her mother's family. Those familiar with the Amish will understand their hesistancy to accept her, as her mother left the faith years ago. Police chief Ted Rittenhouse begins to suspect that someone doesn't want her around after her business is broken into, but are local Amish teenagers responsible? Will her family accept her? A nice romance/mystery with a lot of tidbits about [...]

    23. This book centers on Fiona Flanagan, nurse-midwife, who has moved from California to the small town of Crossroads, PA, to open her own practice. As she struggles to fit in to the tight-knit Amish community and connect with long-estranged relatives, she must also decide whether to open her heart and life to police chief Ted Rittenhouse, who himself balances between both worlds. This was a quick read and perfectly good for a little light romance; however, I couldn't read these books all the time, [...]

    24. BY: Phoenix Maldonado-Restless Hearts was a quiet read. The idea of a city girl moving to an Amish town to resettle and discover her roots didn't appeal to me at first. But as I sank into my covers each night, I found myself comforted by how little motion was taking place in the story. Hometown heroes, crackling fireplaces, and patchwork quilt sewing made me long for simpler times. I felt like I could hear the clogging of horses as carriages dropped family by for small talk and tea. It was nice [...]

    25. I know the title sounds silly, but it was a nice book to read by the pool. It was squeaky clean, so don't worry about any smut popping up. It's a story about a 30 somthing single nurse midwife who travels to Amish country to set up a practice and finally meets her late mothers family. Her mother grew up Amish, but left her family after falling in love. I enjoy reading stories that take place in a simpler world, whether it's Amish country or the old west. It's refreshing to read about peoples liv [...]

    26. This book showed me what it is like in the Amish community, and I love books that make me see things and puts me in things I've never been in before.Fiona has such a colourful personality in this here book,I loved it.I also enjoyed reading how she found herself in Crossroads ,and the things she had to endure and go through to truly get to that point.Restless Hearts also has a love story going on ,and I truly loved watching Fiona's and Ted's relationship grow.Overall,I truly did enjoy this book ,a [...]
