    1. DNF at 35%. Yeap. Still chasing the warlord/enemies-turned-romance story after Warprize and still not finding it. This one was almost promising with the Katniss Everdeen scenario in a pitiful Panembut these characters are idiots. “No. Not any more. Never again. I want to take you to Alta Novis. I want you to meet my people. My mother." - Yulen“I’m thinking of how you felt in my arms after you killed the ferret. I’m thinking about how you tasted. The softness of your lips. About how I wan [...]

    2. I'm sad to say that I didn't like this book, at all. Here were some of the thoughts that I had while reading it:(1) The genocidal backdrop didn't exactly put me in the mood for romance. Yes, I know the "Cleaners" had a "lifetime of conditioning" against the Mutahs, but that still doesn't make me cool with the genocidal behavior. It would have been better if (view spoiler)[we had known earlier on about the Blood attacks, and how Yulen's people thought Bloods/Mutahs were the same. At least that wo [...]

    3. I got this book at the ARe Earth Day free event because the blurb sounded interesting. It was a very enjoyable read. I was pleased by the post-apocalyptic adventure and romance. The disaster is that earth is hit by a huge meteor shower that has a profound affect on the topography as well as the occupants so that by three hundred years later advanced technology is a thing of the past throwing society back into the Middle Ages. Life is about survival mostly. It also has an affect on the people and [...]

    4. During my ongoing quest to find a good barbarian/warlord romance, this one was a fail which I am sorry to say. This had a great premise and the fact it was a post apocalyptic setting with mutants and battle lords that run city like fiefdoms would usually tick all the boxes for me. But the heroine, Atty suffers from Mary Suism - she's beautiful even though she's a mutant she doesn't have extra limbs or anything to mark her as ugly and an outsider but lustrous indigo hair and she is a super duper [...]

    5. Very nice! I was expecting something very different, something more erotic, but what I found out was completely different. This book was very fast paced and very interesting. I liked both the hero and the heroine. The hero was alpha but not and arrogant and stubborn one and the heroine was really strong and clever. It was a little bit like Ms. Auel Earth's Children's saga. I'll be reading the next books!

    6. I was crying as I read the part where Atty was thought to be dying and the agony that Yulen was going thru. There were many scenes in the story that had moved and touched me. Wonderful book and highly recommended by me to anyone who enjoy love stories that touches your heart.

    7. This book was offered for free earlier this week on Romance. It was excellent. This book series is about a world far into the future. Apparently some sort of meteorite shower hits the moon and earth and destroys most of it. The disaster causes a lot of mutations to occurr in animals and people. The people who change are called Muta and are generally hated by the Norms or the group known as the "cleaners" because they kill all the muta's they find to "clean the earth of the abominations." The two [...]

    8. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It was well written and interesting story. There might have been too many crosses with death for one book, but hey! it's war! Overall I liked the story, I liked the characters. Liam in particular warmed my heart. Atty was one of the sweetest and at the same time strongest female characters I've read about. Also postapocaliptic world created in this book was really interesting.

    9. Beautifully written to bring us a wonderful romance that broke every boundary. Healing people when Yulen and Atty love conquered the hardest of hearts.Set in the future we met these two people under horrific circumstances, finding a love pure and unhindered for those around them. The strong characters made it believable and the plot realistic.

    10. Really interesting premise. I thought the first 3/4 of the book was really good. Then it started jumping all over and some things were absurd. A few things weren't resolved, unless I missed them in my rush to get past the ridiculous. I did enjoy the final chapter. Overall, a good read. 3.5 stars.

    11. If you like a romantic saga and a heroine who can take care of herself and hero who changes, this is a great choice. Great world building.

    12. (Spoilers ahead)I'll start out by saying I really struggled with this review. Not only because I know Linda personally, but because my opinion varied throughout the book. To begin, the human Battle Lord Yulen discovers a small "Mutah" village and commands his men to attack it and kill every living thing inside. This isn't unusual for the "normals" to do as they try to rid earth of those humans whose genetics were screwed up by a strange astral phenomenon generations before. A really cool and uni [...]

    13. 2 1\2 starsA nice story, full of interesting details. A Romeo and Juliet story in a world gone mad after a natural disaster. The book read fantasy, rather than futuristic to me, due to the battles with bows and swords and a world that is gone back in time. The plot touches the theme of racism, even if unfortunately it does a bit shallowly (even if it's normal for a romance). If it's true that the heroine is a mutant, she is a beautiful woman whose only difference is her hair color. True, she is [...]

    14. Here's something I've realized about the author's writing style- the characters, specially lead characters, do a lot of thinking in italics. most romances, you see those thoughts/dialogues when the hero is in his cups and his best friend is advising him. This best friend then promptly loses his good sense and needs the hero to be there for him and listen to him and advise him, when it is his turn to be the hero in a sequel. That tactic really gets on my nerves, but realizing why this

    15. A beautiful story that goes against years of prejudices. The only comment I have to make is that, in my opinion Yulan and Atty fell in love a bit to fast. I would have greatly enjoy seeing her resist him a bit more. Would have add a great part.

    16. The Battle Lord’s Lady by Linda MooneyA good read. What an interesting story about how the world as we know it changed when earth passed through a meteor field. This is a futuristic story that because of the ‘Great Concussion’ actually reverts human kind back to the very basics in living but with a great split in humanity. The Mutah are the ‘unaturals’ whose physical forms changed in sometimes big ways and sometimes small ways. From extra limbs or tails to special skills or hair the co [...]

    17. Three hundred years in the future, mankind still is trying to survive the Great Collision that changed the earth forever. People live in pockets of civilization called compounds, battling the elements and the mutations which have developed over the centuries, trying to live and survive day by day. Yulen D’Jacques is the Battle Lord of Alta Novis. His duty is to keep his compound and his people safe, which means yearly sweeps of the area to remove any mutated men and animals from encroaching. A [...]

    18. I pushed through the book hoping that if I finished it, I would like it enough to give it two stars. Unfortunately, I just didn't like it. Despite being 20, Atty possessed the naïveté and behaviour one would expect from a 14 year old. (view spoiler)[I mean come on, she basically threw a hissy fit and ran off because she learned the 30 year old man she was infatuated with had a mistress and wasn't celibate. I mean, really? (hide spoiler)] It's been a while since I read a YA book, and it's my fa [...]

    19. Enthralling sagaThe Battle Lord's Lady, what can say, this was a re-read and I enjoyed this the second time just as much as the first. The first part of this saga is amazingly enthralling, from the opening lines and first arrows shot I was transfixed. Addy is a force to be reckoned with a mutah in a future that is far different than life today. Yulan is a cleaner and battle lord with his scarred visage and hatred for the mutah this story should be over before its begun. But its not, here we have [...]

    20. I got this one for free on aRe last month during their Earth Day giveaways. I guess it was ok, but it wasn't much more. The story wasn't original but it wasn't too badly executed. The romance between Yulen and Atty came from nowhere and wasn't very believable, they had chemistry though. I don't know where it came from since the situation - at least for Atty - was horrible, but they had it. I loved the few times when Atty and Yulen were fighting side by side. But I hated the doctor. This characte [...]

    21. I really enjoyed this series. Yes there were some issues, the insta love which is abrupt and not done well, Attys super perfect(although I found her a tad bit of a drama llama at times), and Yul's past as a cleaner(which I thought was totally glossed over. However, I still really liked it! I loved the world building and all the side characters. I read all 5 books and never found myself bored or having to push myself to continue. I would definitely recommend if you're on the fence giving this seri [...]

    22. Yet another book that was hilarious and didn't mean to be. Also, the hero in this one takes the heroine's virginity, but only to save her life, of course! WTF? There is no plausible situation in which that works, let alone the situation that occurred in this book. Definitely going to skip the rest of this "saga."

    23. I loved this book. Got as a free read from earth day I think. I was expecting something with a handful of sex and vulgarity. But no! Got a completely different world with new rules and people and species and language. I just about cried when atty got poisoned. After all that they still couldn't be together. Great read. Couldn't put it down.

    24. A post apocalyptic Romeo & Juliet story with a delicious hero, a kick ass heroine and a truly happy ending. I loved it! 4.5 stars*contains violence and disturbing sequences that may not be suitable for all readers.

    25. Linda mooney has this knack for making the unbelievable, believable. This series is one of her best followed closely by The Rim Of The World series. I enjoyed them, but I can't say that they will be everyone's cup of tea.
