    1. When I bought this book, I hadn’t yet read anything by Catherine Anderson, nor had I ventured into the world of American Western Historical Romances, but because so many of my friends were raving about it, I ordered it, kept checking the delivery status, and as soon as it arrived, sat it on my To Be Read shelf, which over time morphed into a Too Many To Be Read shelf, and Annie’s Song got pushed to the back and was, sadly, forgotten. Fortunately, albeit years later, it fit right in with one [...]

    2. ¡Precioso! Ale [...]

    3. I was expecting this book to be bad, but it surprised me. I was, in fact, expecting to be horrified by it, as let me just type up the back cover.Annie Trimble lives in a solitary world that no one enters or understands. As delicate and beautiful as the tender blossoms of the Oregon spring, she is shunned by a town that misinterprets her affliction. But cruelty cannot destroy the love that Annie holds in her heart.Alex Montgomery is horrified to learn his wild younger brother forced himself on a [...]

    4. I can’t seem to find the words to convey just how wonderful this book is and others have written far more eloquent reviews than I ever could. So here’s my little tribute to a book that will be treasured and re-read many times.”The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.”- Helen Keller ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~She had done nothing wrong, nothing. Yet the way they looked at her made her feel as though she had. Here, in the darkne [...]

    5. Annie Trimble life has never been easy, at young age she lost her hearing to the rages of a fever, thinking she is nothing but a moron not knowing she was just deaf her family treats her lower then a dog. After an assault leaves her pregnant the brother of her assaulter comes to her family with a deal. Alex Montgomery is sicken and horrified when learning his brother assaulted young Annie, trying to do what’s best, Alex asks the family for her hand in marriage, when she gives birth would take [...]

    6. I must say I have loved every Catherine Anderson book I have read and was very disappointed to see that some of her earlier works are not on Kindle. Once I got my kindle I gave up on paperbacks. There were some titles not availble on kindle that I sort of thought to myself "I really want to read that - will I order the paperback?" en thought to myself "Will wait a few months and see if they will be released on Kindle". Most of the books I have just left and never ordered in paperback. I only bou [...]

    7. Reviewed for thcreviewsAfter reading the synopsis for Annie's Song, I wondered how an author might write a mute character and keep the story interesting without the usual use of dialog. In the case of Catherine Anderson, the answer is, quite simply, incredibly well. Annie is probably the sweetest, most guileless heroine I have ever read. She is full of childlike innocence and takes joy in the simple things in life. Ms. Anderson gives readers a lovely picture of how Annie views everything around [...]

    8. 3.5 SO-SWEET-MY-TEETH-HURT STARS!!!!!Even though I rated this 3.5 stars, I would still recommend this book! This book was different. I’ve never read a story like it.I can’t say much about the story without spoiling something. The beginning was heart-breaking. The way that people, even her own family, treat Annie is horrible. Granted, mental health was very different in the 1800’s. There were a lot of unknowns. By the time we got to the middle,I just wanted to reach inside this book and pin [...]

    9. 5+ stars – Historical RomanceAnnie’s Song is a simple, achingly sweet, heartfelt, soul-stirring, and poignant tale of how sincere kindness and love can truly transcend cruelty, hurt, language, disabilities, and boundaries of all kinds to soothe, heal, forgive, and redeem. There are a lot of wonderful things I could say about this remarkable love story, but perhaps succinct is best: it’s precious, beautiful, and moving like the sunsets and sounds Annie so treasures. It’s a memorable roman [...]

    11. More like a beautiful butterfly emerging, almost magically, from its chrysalis. In that moment, that was how he saw Annie. This is a beautiful book. No doubt about it. I had ridiculous high hopes, and I'm sad to say it didn't really live up to those expectations. On the plus side:1. Absolutely beautiful2. So many heartwarming moments3. A wonderful tale about a deaf girl who gets to experience loveOn the down side:1. Alex took care of Annie in the most wonderful way but I could not feel the sparkli [...]

    12. I read a few historicals a few years ago and thought at the time that it was just not my cuppa. I could not figure out why that was the case, just that i could barely get through the stories. Then my very picky friend Gina started reading this book and i got curious. If she is enjoying herself so much while reading this book, and loving every minute of it assures me that i will enjoy it. Well i bought myself a copy and very glad i did. This was one of the best love story i had read in a while. H [...]

    13. I'm going to break ranks here and be the first person to give this book only one star. It was a beautifully written book, but it failed in one fundamental aspect - however hard I tried, I couldn't suspend disbelief. The plot has more holes than the ozone layer. I gave up about half way through, too disgusted with the lack of credibility. At age five or six, Annie contracts fever and loses her hearing. Her parents declare she has become mentally retarded. Annie herself knows she has become deaf, b [...]

    14. I have started reading this book with no expectations whatsoever. However, it sucked me in from the start. I was very angry at some parts, giggling at some parts, and crying at other parts. It was a roller coaster that forced me to experience so many emotions, and I hated so many characters in this book. Story:This is about a girl called Annie. She is the villages 'Moron' that everyone laugh & joke at. On a very bad day, she got assaulted by a guy in the woods, leading her to become pregnant [...]

    15. Annie Trimble is the town idiot, having caught a fever as a child that has rendered her unable to talk, her parents keep her out of sight and allow her her solitary ramblings through the woods. However, that all ends when she is brutally raped in the forest she used to roam. Alex Montgomrey is beyond furious when he learns that his younger brother her raped poor slow Annie Trimble, determined to make up for his brother he marries Annie when they realize she is pregnant. But as he becomes closer [...]

    18. One of my favorites by Anderson, and I've read a ton of her books. I've heard people complain that Annie's a little too innocent and simple and her relationship with Alex is more father-daughter than husband-wife, but I thought the story was lovely. It's the late 1800's Oregon. Annie is the judge's youngest daughter and considered to be an imbecile. She had a fever when she was six that affected her brain, supposedly. At twenty, she's raped by Douglas Montgomery. The Montgomery family is very wea [...]

    19. Sometimes I look at the titles that are put on books and wonder why they're named that. Half the time they have nothing to do with the story at all. Here, the title actually has meaning. Annie is not what people think. No one has made the effort to discover the real her. It takes a special, though regrettable, set of circumstances and a special man to look past the stigma and listen closely enough to hear Annie's song. The book starts out with a very disturbing event. Annie, the childlike town "i [...]

    20. My rating: 5+++++++ "Annie, love" stars!!!!!! I would rate this a million stars if I could!!!!Triggers:Cheating: (view spoiler)[ no(hide spoiler)]Love triangle: (view spoiler)[ no(hide spoiler)]Sex with om/ow: (view spoiler)[ The heroine is raped in the prologue by the hero's brother. There are no other scenes with others. In fact, when the hero gets to thinking about sex, he can't even remember the last time he had it - my kind of guy right there!(hide spoiler)]HEA: (view spoiler)[ Such a beaut [...]

    21. I just finished and I'd like to say its Phenomenal!!! its seriously amazing. For one thing I really loved the book so I'm starting to get interested in the authord another thing that there wasn't a single thing in the book that I hated, maybe except all the misunderstanding that's happening, starting from her fear of him even after months she still feared him, but its understandable since she's deaf and neglectedaring the end I was this close to tears, I tried my best to hold the tears back cause [...]

    23. The storyAnnie Trimble is considered the town's simpleton, Annie the dummy, whom everyone makes fun of but does not harm, most of the times. Until Douglas Montgomery, your usual rich spoilt man, the town's bully, sets his eyes on her and rapes herr fun. Alex Mongtgomery, his older brother tries to make amends by marrying Annie and providing for the child resulting from her rape. What has started as so dreadful blossoms to a great love story against all the hero's expectations.AnnieLost in her si [...]

    24. Read more reviews like this at lovelybooksblog! It's been a week or so since I finished this novel and I'm still trying to gather my thoughts in order to properly right a review, though I have a feeling it's going to take much longer and probably another reading before I can even begin to put how I feel about this book into words. I've never read a book that I've loved the same way I love this one, and I have a feeling I never will. Reading Annie's Song is like riding a roller coaster of emotion [...]

    25. As always, Anderson's book thoroughly engage me. The characters, the emotions, the storylinee book just sucked me in completely. So I ended up giving it the highest rating despite the fact that there were a couple issues I had with it.There was such a sad element to this story. Anderson definitely does not shy away from non-traditional heroines. Annie is supposedly the "idiot" girlt right in the head with the mentality of a small child, but that's not even close to the truth. It's fascinating to [...]

    26. I'm not really sure what to write about this one. There were parts I liked and parts I hated, but I'm not certain I really loved any of it. It was disappointing considering I had to go ferret out a paperback copy of it since the publisher hasn't seen fit to get with the times and release it as an ebook. Anyway, the story is fairly straightforward; girl is rendered deaf after a childhood illness and her parents spend the next 12 years abusing the crap out of her. Then she's abused some more by so [...]

    27. If I read this book in my younger days, it would definitely be a 5-star rating. The author did a pretty good job of portraying abuse, mistreated heroine and her graduate life awakening. There were even some funny moments amidst of all the doom and gloom. But I can’t give the story more than 2.5-star rating. The reason? Characters’ relationship was too disturbing for me. (view spoiler)[ I understand why the heroine falls in love with the hero. And who wouldn't love someone who rescued them fr [...]

    28. 4.75 stars, to be honest. You know how you sometimes read a book which you've been looking for in a long time? A book, which you know you'll cherish forever and will re-read probably a hundred times in your life. A book which makes you yelp in surprise because heck! this is what you've always wanted from a good book. Well, this is that book. I can't even express in words how heart-achingly beautiful it is. This book touched me andddd well, I'm stunned. This book, by far, outshines 99% of the boo [...]

    29. This cry came from her soul, raw with pain, ugly in its honesty. Nothing was held back or modulated. Even so, to Alex, it was the most beautiful sound on earth. There is no way I can properly talk about Annie’s Song. I’m tempted to quote so many things . . . . Let’s admit it: By then, my quoting would have spiraled out of control and the entire book would be inserted into my review, word for word. So I need to settle down.As much as I love this book and the love story within, I can't give i [...]

    30. This book was just incredible and will play on my mind for quite a while. I was in the mood for an emotional love story and this delivered it in spades.I have to admit that I found some of this book very hard to read. I find it difficult to deal with the way that disabled & mentally disabled people are sometimes treated by ignorant or just downright mean people, whether it is 'harmless' teasing or something more serious. It's shameful behaviour. It broke my heart to learn some of Annie's exp [...]
